Author: Peter Gilchrist Read Time: 3 mins A bunch of middle-aged guys and self-proclaimed “Goatbusters” (a former F3 Blue Ridge Relay team name that referenced BRR’s toughest segments, dubbed “mountain goats”) plan a group adventure every year. It’s designed to be challenging, full of fellowship, and proudly CSAUP (aka: Completely Stupid And Utterly Pointless).
Doing something difficult together, gives us that shared pain … and something to reminisce about until we do the next one. Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim of the Grand Canyon, Presidential Traverse in New England, Four Pass Loop in Colorado and the Grand Teton Loop in Wyoming have all been crossed off the list. This year we hit Utah’s Zion National Park and it did not disappoint. Author: Adam Bratton Read Time: 2 mins The term “Fat Ass” has raised a few eyebrows as we’ve teased a new Human Powered Movement experience over the past few months. Most people we’ve talked with have never heard the term in relation to a running event before. Worse yet, some have been straight up offended by what they assumed we just called them!
It's not what you think ... but here’s what you need to know about “Fat Ass” style running events, and how you can try one yourself. Guest Q&A: Matt King Read Time: 6 mins Matt King is a seasoned vet when it comes to endurance efforts ... he has multiple 100 mile finishes under his belt, countless day-long shifts owning/operating his multiple restaurants, and has the tall task of chasing around his 5 kids on a daily basis!
His latest endeavor, however, was paying a visit to an old friend ... the Hell Hole Hundred in the low country of South Carolina and put on by Palmetto Ultras. This old friend graciously delivered a DNF (Did Not Finish) in 2023. With many lessons learned from the previous year and a reinvigorated supporting case of goons, Matt arose from the fiery ashes of hell to crush his latest challenge. It's been exactly 1 month from this 100 mile finish, and we tossed a few questions to get his perspective, revisit the experience, and see what's next on this man's never ending quest for finding out what's around life's next bend. Guests/Athletes: Miles & Maximus Bratton Short Film: 5 mins - Interview: 5mins - Picture Recap: 1min Maximus (5) and Miles (8) Bratton recently crushed their very first triathlon! Sure there were a few lows including multiple bike crashes, resulting tears, and the bee that flew directly into Maximus' mouth but there were also a few highs like popsicle bribes, a sense of pride, endless high fives and a super proud dad. Check out Human Powered Movement's latest Short Film "My First Tri" plus an exclusive sit down and thought provoking interview with these high-performance athletes themselves and a quick visual recap of this multisport escapade.
