I’ve been balancing the responsibilities of working full-time with the full time-esque requirements of planning and coordinating multiple events. I’ve often wondered if all this effort is worth it. Then the reaction to last week’s announcement finally hit and I’m still bursting with excitement.
Guest Contributor: Brian Mister Read Time: 4 mins Streaking. That word has a very different meaning to me these days compared to my college days rummaging around the UNC Charlotte campus. My present day interpretation of streaking is to run at least one mile every single day. This time, fortunately, with clothes on. I’ve been streaking two full years without a single day off. I’ve learned a lot about running, grit, will, and pure love for a hobby turned necessity.
I’ll admit, every so often I get caught up in the deep, dark rabbit hole of YouTube. The majority of my glazed over viewing sessions are wildly unproductive but occasionally, a video strikes a chord. Beau Mile’s film entitled “A Mile An Hour” strummed that productive chord beautifully and I instantly set a goal to replicate the experience myself. What an amazing experience it turned out to be.

I was 1 of 30,000+ participants in the Los Angeles Marathon on March 8, 2020. It was an unforgettable rush to be a part of the never-ending wave of runners that filled the streets of LA for 26.2 miles. The energy of the crowd undoubtedly carried me through the inevitable “wall” and across the finish line in Santa Monica. Three days later, the pandemic shut our country down and everything changed. |
