Perennial: A Time Based Endurance Run

"Perennial" is a time based (vs distance based) running event with 3Hr, 6Hr and 10hr options and is the perfect opportunity to hit your distance or duration PR with minimal elevation on a lap based course. Each 5Kish loop, along beautiful waterfront trails on the grounds of Daniel Stowe Conservancy, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, will add up to reach your goal and snag escalating distance prizes.

Test yourself physically and mentally, while collecting prizes and supporting small business and local environmental non-profits just minutes from Charlotte, NC ... not a bad way to spend a day running through the woods with your trail family!

Perennial Endurance Run - FAQs

How do Time-Based events work?

What is a Timed Run (Journal)
  • Participants choose which Time Category they would like to participate in
    • Perennial features 3Hr, 6Hr, and 10Hr options
  • The Race Director does not determine the total distance run ... it is completely up to each individual participant
  • Participants aim to complete as many laps as possible within the allotted time, at their own pace, and on their own time (IE: mid race breaks are OK)
    • Perennial features a 5K-ish loop that starts/finishes at Race HQ & Aid Station
  • Runners are ranked based on total number of laps completed, and then by time
    • Example A: The runner who completes 10 laps in 9 hours will be ranked higher than the runner that completes 9 laps in 8hrs
    • Example B: The runner who completes 10 laps in 9 hours will be ranked higher than the runner that completes 10 laps in 9 hrs and 15 mins
  • Any distance covered AFTER the time category concludes does NOT count towards the participant's total lap count and standings

What do I need to know for Event Day?

  • Parking lot opens at 6:00am for registrants. Participants can drop their gear off at Race HQ, but MUST park in the main Daniel Stowe Conservancy parking lot - VIEW MAP HERE
  • Participants can set up around the Race HQ as long as they are respectful to all over participants, staff, volunteers, and sponsors. The RD reserves the right to make the final call on space usage
    • Race HQ will be close, but separate, from parking. Plan accordingly, and arrive early.
  • Course will be a 5Kish loop that starts/finishes in the same location (Race HQ)
  • Bathrooms are in close proximity, but are not in Race HQ (200ft away)
  • Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day
    • Perennial is a Cup Free Event (BYO ... handheld, bottle(s), Aid Station Cup, etc.)
    • Shade, chair, lights (if desired) etc. are the responsibility of each participant
    • Water, Tailwind and soda will be available at Race HQ
      • No, it will not be Coca-Cola ... those earth murderers rolled back their sustainability initiatives which is incredibly frustrating and unacceptable.
    • Participants are responsible for their main nutritional needs - we will have the basics pretzels, chips, Sour Patch Kids, PB&Js, etc.
    • Friends/family are welcome to support and crew at Race HQ, but cannot pace on course
  • Event is entirely on the grounds at Daniel Stowe Conservancy. Thank them for their hospitality. Enjoy their beautiful property. Be respectful and aware of surroundings at all times.
Human Powered Movement - Rocky River Shiver - Event Day FAQs

How does this event support our environment and non-profits?

  • 100% of additional donations during registration go directly to Daniel Stowe Conservancy who is determined to preserve it's 380 acres of natural beauty and provide a space for outdoor community-building, learning and exploration.
  • We're collecting your old shirts (cotton, polyester, blended) to be recycled in Recover's 360 Closed Loop Apparel Recycling Program and old sneakers to be recycled/repurposed with GotSneakers.
  • Additionally, as of 2025, Human Powered Movement no longer automatically distributes safety pins to participants at our events. Read more about another environmentally focused initiative that we've introduced to our events and community to further support Momma Nature.
