The last runner standing race format has exploded throughout the running scene over the past few years and we are upping the ante by routing runners through a compact and elevation friendly 1.25-1.5 mile route that includes, gravel roads, trails, rolling fields, and grow rows of an active wildflower and produce farm just minutes from Charlotte, NC.

Pre-Event Gathering

HIGHLIGHTS:

Pychoactive - FAQs

How do "Last Runner Standing" or "Elimination" events work?

  • All participants must start each lap together
  • Psychoactive will feature a 1.25-1.5 mi lapped course (~100ft of elevation gain/lap)
    • Each lap will begin at set time increments with a diminishing clock​
  • Any participants that does not begin a lap is eliminated
  • Any participant that does not complete a lap within the time limit is eliminated
  • Participants who run faster will have more time to rest before the next lap begins​​
  • Race will continue until there is only 1 winner ... the "Last Runner Standing"​

What do I need to know for Event Day?

  • Parking lot opens at 7am for registrants. Space is limited. Don't park like a knucklehead. Same with "home base" set ups.
  • Participants can set up their "home base" around the start/finish area (Race HQ)
    • ​Race HQ will be close, but separate, from parking. Plan accordingly​
  • Course is a 1.25-1.5 mile loop that starts/finishes in the same location (Race HQ)
  • Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day
    • Shade, chair, change of clothes, lights (if necessary) etc. are the responsibility of each participant
    • ​Unlimited water and reasonably limited Tailwind and Coke will be available at Race HQ
    • Participants are responsible for their main nutritional needs but we will have pretzels, chips, Sour Patch Kids, Farm grown and jarred pickles, etc.
    • Friends/family are welcome to support and crew at Race HQ, but cannot pace on course
  • Event is on private land. Thank Blackberry Ridge Farm for their hospitality. Enjoy their beautiful property. Be respectful and aware of surroundings at all times.​
  • There will be two port-a-johns at Race HQ ... plan accordingly​
  • We'll have coolers of beer (including Homebrew from the RD), when you finish or are eliminated
  • Our goal is to break you before sunset ... let's see what happens​

How does this event support our environment?

  • ​100% of additional donations during registration go directly to Blackberry Ridge Farm who has developed a native pollinator habitat on their property! (Learn more HERE)
  • We collect your old shirts (cotton/poly/blends) to be recycled in Recover's 360 Closed Loop Apparel Recycling Program
  • We collect old sneakers to be recycled/repurposed with GotSneakers
  • We collect old race medals to be recycled with Sports Medal Recycling
  • As of 2024, HPM events are proudly "Cup Free" to reduce our environmental impact
