A Hellacious MTB Event
UPDATE AS OF 7/17/23 - Regretfully, we received news that the property owners of the Rocky River Trails will no longer allow the Rocky River Shiver (and the Shiver Pre-Ride Party) to continue effective immediately.
We're stoked to bring the Mountain Bike community back together for a few more laps at the Rocky River MTB Trails on Sat, Aug 5.
We'll see who can withstand three laps at the third annual mid-summer beatdown. Once again, we will ride in Steve's honor in 2023!!
HIGHLIGHTS:

Our Shiver Pre-Ride Party is back on Saturday, July 22!  We'll ride 1 lap of the Rocky River Shiver course then kick back to answer questions and share Shiver stories with ice cold BYOB crafties (We'll bring a cooler of freshness from Sierra Nevada and Guayaki Yerba Mate), raffle giveaways and goodies from our partners.

Rocky River Shiver - FAQs

How does the cash payout work?

  • ​$10 from each registration goes directly into the cash purse
  • First or last, anyone that completes 3 laps shares the cash purse evenly
  • Anyone that does not complete 3 laps does not share the cash purse
  • The final payout depends on how many register and how many complete all 3 laps
  • Cash payout will be delivered via Human Powered Movement Venmo after the event

What do I need to know for Event Day?

  • Trails are technical, if you haven't ridden these trails before, we highly recommend doing so 
  • ​Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day ... ability level, mechanicals, nutrition, hydration, shade, camp chair, etc. are the responsibility of each participant
  • Event is on private land. Thank the Kiker Family for their hospitality. Enjoy and shred the trails. Be respectful and aware of surrounding neighbors.
  • Parking lot opens at 7am for registrants. Space is highly limited. Don't park like a knucklehead. Same with tents and other setups​
  • There is one port-a-john at the Trailhead ... plan accordingly
  • Your reg fee includes the suggested "daily trail usage" donation on event day​
  • Coolers of beer (including Homebrew from the RD), and frozen icy pops when you finish or DNF
  • Riders must start Lap #2 by 10:30am and Lap #3 by 1:00pm. 
  • ​Course closes at 3:30pm. ​​

How does this event support non-profits?

  • $5 of each registration goes directly to the Kiker Family who has graciously allowed us to host this event on their property. These funds help offset costs of maintenance, supplies, tools, etc.
  • 100% of donations at registration go directly to Trips for Kids/Re-Cyclery in Charlotte, NC. Check them out as they are doing some amazing work in the youth cycling scene.
  • As a proud 1% For the Planet member, a portion of all of our revenue goes directly to supporting environmental non-profits in the greater Charlotte, NC area (where we are based)​​
