MOVE: A Carbon Negative and Fat Ass Style Trail Run

You're cordially invited to join the HPM trail running community for an environmentally responsible Half Marathon or 50K running experience during the Winter Solstice on Saturday, December 21, 2024 just north of Charlotte, NC.

This Carbon Negative & Fat-Ass style event features a lot of non-traditional aspects:
NO to ... Registration Fees, Single Use Plastic, Age Group Awards, Pressure, and Negative Vibes
YES to ... Social Vibe, Environmental Responsibility, Raffle Items, Non-Profit Giveback and Endless Miles

Complete a Half Marathon, 50K or whatever distance you beautiful human heart desires!

  • Brand new Human Powered Movement running experience
  • Running party with friends, family, community and Mother Earth
  • Limited to the first 100 that RSVP

  • Environmental responsibility is required by all runners (see below)

  • Start: 9:00am (Cutoff for all distances: 4:00pm)

  • Route: 3 (ish) mile looped single track trail (Always close to aid/drop bags)

How Does This Carbon Negative Event Work?
  • Each runner is required to pick up 2 bags (minimum) of trash around their local greenway, stream, neighborhood, road, etc. or they'll be removed from the UltraSignUp.com participant list
    • Proof (pictures) must be submitted HERE by 12/15/24 at the latest
  • Cup Free Event - BYO handheld, water bottle, cooler, etc.
    • SpeedCups from ATC10K will be available at Check In ($10)
  • Safety Pin Free Event - BYO Safety Pins for your race bib
  • At Check-In, we will also collect:
  • ​In lieu of Age Group Awards, we're hosting a "White Elephant" party
    • If you want to participate, bring an item ($20 or less) to toss on the "Prize" table at check in - 1st finisher picks first, then 2nd, 3rd, etc.
  • All You Can Drink Coffee + Custom HPM x Black Coffee Roasting Co Tumbler to keep your warm all day (Sale Price = $25)
  • All You Can Drink Trail Pass (NA) + Custom HPM x Sierra Nevada Recycled Steel Pint to keep you hydrated all day (Sale Price = $10)
  • Old HPM Event Shirts, and other sustainably/responsibly made HPM Merch items will be available for purchase at a deep discount
  • ​Proceeds from this run support planting more trees which results in the removal of carbon out of our environment for decades to come!

MOVE (Run) - FAQs

What do I need to know for "MOVE" Day?

  • Park opens at sunrise (7:28am)
  • Park, trails, and all facilities are open to the general public at all times
  • MOVE runners DO NOT have priority over other park users at any point
  • ​MOVE will not occur if the Trail Status is "Closed"
  • Runners can hang out around the HQ as long as they are respectful to all other trail users, staff, volunteers, park users, etc. HPM reserves the right to make the final call on space usage​
  • We will run a 5Kish loop that starts/finishes in the same location (HQ)
  • Bathrooms are available at the park (see map)
  • Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day
    • MOVE is Cup Free (BYO ... handheld, bottle(s), Aid Station Cup, etc.)
    • Shade, chair, change of clothes, etc. are the responsibility of each runner
    • ​We'll have a cooler of water - all other nutrition/hydration is the responsibility of each runner
    • Friends/family are welcome to support, crew, pace, run, hang out, donate, volunteer, etc
  • Thank Huntersville Park & Rec for allowing us to move at their beautiful park. Appreciate their hospitality. Be respectful and aware of surroundings at all times.​​​​

How does this event support our environment and non-profits?

  • Suggested ($25) donations during the RSVP process will help cover HPM costs with all additional dollars going directly to TreesCharlotte to support their mission of growing, diversifying, and stewarding Charlotte's iconic urban forest.
  • Simply ... Your donation will continue to pull carbon out of our atmosphere for decades to come!
