MOVE: A Carbon Negative and Bare Bones MTB Ride

Join HPM and the mountain bike community for an environmentally responsible pedal-powered party on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at North Meck Park near Charlotte.

This Carbon Negative & Bare Bones style event features a lot of non-traditional aspects:
NO to ... Registration Fees, Single Use Plastic, Category Awards, Pressure, and Negative Vibes
YES to ... Social Vibe, Environmental Responsibility, Raffle Items, Non-Profit Giveback and Endless Miles

HIGHLIGHTS & DETAILS:
How Does This Carbon Negative Event Work?
  • Each rider is required to pick up 2 bags (minimum) of trash around their local greenway, stream, neighborhood, road, etc. or they'll be removed from the participant list
    • Proof (pictures) must be submitted HERE by 12/15/24 at the latest
  • Cup Free - BYO Bottles, cooler, etc. (we will have a cooler of water, but will not have single use plastic cups)
  • At Check-In, we will also collect:
  • ​In lieu of Category Awards, we're hosting a "White Elephant" party
    • If you want to participate, bring an item ($20 or less) to toss on the "Prize" table ... top finisher picks first, then second, third, etc.
  • All You Can Drink Coffee + Custom HPM x Black Coffee Roasting Co Tumbler to keep your warm all day (Sale Price = $25)
  • All You Can Drink Trail Pass (NA) + Custom HPM x Sierra Nevada Recycled Steel Pint to keep you hydrated all day (Sale Price = $10)
  • HPM Bike Merch, old HPM Event Shirts, and other sustainably/responsibly made HPM Merch items will be available for purchase at a deep discount

MOVE (Ride) - FAQs

What do I need to know for "MOVE" Day?

  • Park opens at sunrise (7:28am)
  • Park, trails, and all facilities are open to the general public at all times
  • MOVE riders DO NOT have priority over other park users at any point
  • ​MOVE will not occur if the Trail Status is "Closed"
  • Riders can hang out around the HQ as long as they are respectful to all other trail users, staff, volunteers, park users, etc. HPM reserves the right to make the final call on space usage​
  • We will ride a 3mile (ish) loop that starts/finishes in the same location (HQ)
  • Bathrooms are available at the park (see map)
  • Participants are required to be fully self sufficient throughout the day
    • MOVE is Cup Free (BYO ... bottle(s), Aid Station Cup, etc.)
    • Shade, chair, change of clothes, etc. are the responsibility of each rider
    • ​We'll have a cooler of water - all other nutrition/hydration is the responsibility of each ride
    • Friends/family are welcome to support, crew, hang out, donate, volunteer, etc.
  • Thank Huntersville Park & Rec for allowing us to MOVE at their beautiful park. Appreciate their hospitality. Be respectful and aware of your surroundings at all times.​

How does this event support our environment and non-profits?

  • Suggested donations during the RSVP process will help cover HPM costs with all additional dollars going directly to Trips for Kids Charlotte to support their mission of "empowering youth and communities on pedal at a time"

  • Additionally, as are a proud 1% For the Planet member, a portion of all of our annual revenue goes to supporting environmental non-profits in the greater Charlotte, NC area (where we are based)​
