Author: Adam Bratton Read Time: 3 mins The HPM community is absolutely amazing and beautifully wild! We cannot express how much love and appreciation we have for each and every one of you incredible humans for your support and patience as we've been working tirelessly behind the scenes to find a new home for our 5th annual Last Runner Standing Event ... a community gathering, trail running party and straight up National Holiday to many! Good news ... we are officially gathering again on the 3rd weekend in September at Historic Rural Hill just North of Charlotte for Rewild: Last Runner Standing Event on 9/19/26! Here's some additional context on the new venue and the new name ... Even with HPM's Global HQ located in the suburbs of Charlotte, NC, there is unsurprisingly plenty of options for outdoor action in the area (HERE - HERE - HERE and of course HERE are a few examples). To be honest, Historic Rural Hill is one of those immediate "out-the-door" options that I have personally embraced since moving to the area in 2014. NEW VENUE: I stumbled upon this event venue, educational and cultural center and nature preserve by chance when initially scouting running and cycling routes from our neighborhood in suburbia. Interest ramped up once I started attending events there like Warrior Dash and the NC Brewer's and Music Festival, and annual events like Loch Norman Highland Games, and the Corn Maze. As an amateur history buff, it's also been fun to learn and educate myself on the local impact and history of the property which was owned by General William L Davidson, the namesake of the Town of Davidson and Davidson College. Long story short, I have toyed with the idea of pitching an HPM event at this venue for years and when the news broke about Psychoactive, our first call was to Historic Rural Hill to see if we could finally make something happen! The vast majority of the bones that I look for in an a potential HPM event are there ... trails, gravel roads, plenty of open fields and parking to play with and even the unsexy stuff like immediate access to power and water. We still have some work to do (Stay tuned for info on "Trail TLC Days") to make sure we iron out all of the nuances for a new event venue but we CANNOT wait to gather again as a running community and celebrate your inevitable accomplishments and bad-assery! NEW NAME: I'm also wildly stoked to release the rebranded name for the event ... Rewild! As a marketing desk jockey by day, I've likely spent WAAAAAY too much time thinking, researching, assessing and critiquing this decision and name. Do we need a new name in the first place? What will represent the event and this community well? What name are even available? Will it be easy to search for? A case of analysis paralysis set in for sure! Psychoactive was a direct nod to the hemp that was grown at Blackberry Ridge Farm. I strongly believe that a change in venues needs a change in name as well. I want to let this rebirthed event have it's own identity, to carve it's own path and create it's own stories and memories. I also lean into a short and simple names that people will refer to casually ... same idea as our previous event names ... Psychoactive, Sampler, Perennial, Move, Shiver ... you get the idea. Lastly, I love the idea of having a subliminal nod to Blackberry Ridge Farm and the thousands of dollars that we were able to raise over the years to literally "Rewild" their farm through a Native Pollinator Habitat. Check out Webster Dictionaries' definition of Rewild HERE and tell me that this doesn't scream HPM! If all of that isn't enough, and on a most basic level, the HPM community isn't a tame or domesticated community by any stretch of the imagination ... we are edgy and atypical, we enable and push you beyond your comfort zone, we are not your run of the mill crew ... we are Human Powered Movement and hell yeah we get a little WILD! We can't thank you enough again for your continued support throughout this process. Consider this your formal invitation to the rebirth of one of our favorite events of the year. Rebranded, revamped and ready to get (Re)wild with you on 9/19/26!! Journal - Rename, Rebrand, RewildComments are closed.
