Guest Contributor: John Leskowat Read Time: 6 mins As the headlights cut through the early morning darkness, I sped north towards the Virginia state line. I had a general idea where I was headed but I knew I really wouldn’t find out until I got there. All I knew was that I was in for an adventure along the famed 2190 mile long Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

Guest Q&A: Wesley Maxwell Read Time: 3 mins Wesley Maxwell has been a very dear and long time friend of HPM and can typically be seen behind the lens capturing photos of all you beautiful humans at our events, Stoke Squad Meet ups, and more, but don't let the "behind the scenes" action fool you ... Wesley is a seasoned paddler and pedaler and as of the other weekend ... a runner? See how Wesley was "enabled" to register for his first running event in 10 years and how he destroyed his goal time at the Meck Mile!
Kallup McCoy II is a proud Native American and an active member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Throughout his 39 laps around the sun, he has experienced the highs of elite finishes at marathons across the country and lows of cripplingly drug addiction and multiple stints in jail. Kallup just crossed the Mississippi River into Tennessee on his quest to run across the country to raise money for he and his wife’s non-profit RezHOPE Recovery and Consulting.
His story of determination and inspiring effort on this Transcontinental run is something that we are honored to share with the HPM audience as we aim to inspire move activity in people’s lives and support those doing incredible work in their communities. Kallup and his wife gave us a few precious minutes between daily runs to share a bit more about his backstory, the inspiration for this deeply meaningful run and long-term vision for RezHOPE. |
