Adventure Club - Desert Gravel 100

Paul Steinweg, is a  Stoke Squad Member, dad of 3 (revisit his oldest ... Cain's ... Journal HERE from 2021), husband, and loves to blatantly throw moderation to the wind in his wide ranging activities. Paul currently lives in Breckenridge Colorado after a planning a 1 year stint post-college ... 20 years later and here we are! Paul works in custom home construction, and loves running, enjoys biking, bouldering, and would quickly choose to play SpikeBall above all!

He was training for the
Ogden Marathon (which he crushed in 2:51:21!) and decided to change-up his last “long run” two weeks out from the event. Paul reasoned that signing up for the Desert Gravel 100 Miler would motivate him to get on his bike more during marathon training and not over-do it with running. That didn’t necessarily work out as planned ... he rode his gravel bike one time for a whopping 11 miles one week out from the event and decided to tap into the aforementioned "throwing moderation to the wind" strategy and rely on the base of staying active and ready for anything to carry him through the race.

Paul quickly learned that is it much easier to eat / drink while on the bike vs. running ... and was somehow able to spread out his un-trained effort thin enough over the 100 miles that he never bonked on his was to a podium finish! Early reaction from Paul after his first bike race was simple and straight forward ... "I'd do it again!"
